Fine Arts Programs

Band Program​​​

School-based instrumental instruction programs are offered to students in the intermediate grades through the Band programs. This is a user paid programs and not part of the regular school curriculum. Prior musical experience is not required before joining the program. Students are required to provide their own instrument as well as music book(s).

The Band and Strings programs is held in the Multi-Purpose Room.

Band program is for students in Grades 5 - 7.

Band Program 
 
The Band Program offers students in grades 5, 6 and 7 an opportunity to learn how to play a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument. The Band teacher is Colin Madill.

Class Times    
Wednesday Beginning Band 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
  Continuing Band 8:40 am to 9:20 am
Friday Beginning Band 10:45 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.
  Continuing Band 11:25 a.m. to 12:05 a.m.

Choir

Primary Choir: Open to all students in Grades 2 and 3. Rehearsals will be held on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

Intermediate Choir: Open to all students in Grades 4 to 7. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

No audition or prior registration is required—any interested student is welcome to join!

Music Program

At Upper Lynn Elementary, we love music!  
 
Students in grades K-5 receive two classes per week of specialized music instruction. In their music classes, students learn about music, respond to music, and make music. Students sing, move, create, and play instruments including a variety of percussion instruments, recorders, and xylophones. Upper Lynn students have opportunities to share their learning in school assemblies, concerts, and by participating in both Primary Days of Music and the SD44 Intermediate Music Festival.  
Upper Lynn regularly invites outside musical groups to perform for our students.  
 
Upper Lynn has two choirs that all students are welcome to join. Primary choir is for students in grades 2-3 and rehearses on Thursdays from 8 to 8:50 a.m. Our intermediate choir is for students in grades 4-7 and rehearses on Wednesdays from 8 to 8:50 a.m.
